In the book, the protagonist entertains his companions with a tale of a child born with a golden screw for a belly button, who then goes on a journey to find out why he was born that way. Spoilers ahead! Since shaggy dog stories focus on story endings, I will be including my examples’ endings here.

Whether as a joke or as a form of storytelling, the shaggy dog story works in the same way: a basic premise, a long build-up, and a deliberately inadequate ending. It takes that preconception and turns it upside down to shock you, for either a humorous or serious effect. Normally, a narrative with so much build-up should end with an appropriately big pay-off. Shaggy dog stories take advantage of your expectations. It will be months until she’s available for adoption.A “shaggy dog story” is any narrative that features a lot of build-up and action, only to end in an anticlimax, usually making the story ironic or meaningless.
We are going need a large amount of funds to help this girl in her months of upcoming recovery! Times are so tough right now for our community with the continuous inflation, but if even all of our followers could even spare $1, it’s going to help. The vet bills are only continuing to climb to help Lucky girl. We are all they have, we are who the trust and love, and this nature is not what a human being should be doing in return. This one is hard for us to wrap our heads around, day in and day out we face heartache, and I’ll never understand why humans fail these innocent animals. She will face an extensive amount of recovery and therapy. She will under go a repair of the shattered bones by pinning them, to try to prevent amputation when she is healthy enough to do so. Her foot covered in maggots at the entry wound of one shot. A human shot this girl with a 9mm…for what? We will never know exactly why and left her there? Did she walk as far as she could until help found her? unanswered questions. This innocent girl suffered a senseless despicable act by a human. Upon finding her, it was very clear she was injured, hungry and in a lot of pain. Lucky laid waiting until we could find her. I’m sure a lot of questions were raised when we posted looking for an owner of a stray dog lying along the road.

The story’s beginning unfolded on Facebook, with a recent SPCA update at the top: At last report well over $9,000 had been raised towards the care of the dog named Lucky.
Meanwhile area residents responded incredibly when the Clinton County SPCA posted social media word of the dog’s plight. So far there has been no word on the status of their investigation. Meanwhile Pine Creek Township police are investigating to find the party responsible for the dog’s shooting and abandonment. The dog was recently recovered and is under a veterinarian’s care and is on the mend. It’s a story about Lucky, a dog found shot, lying along a Clinton County roadway. DUNNSTOWN, PA – It’s a so far wintertime feel good story, one which could have had a disastrous ending.
